Reasons for Rule Consequentialists

چکیده
This paper explores what a Rule Consequentialist of Brad Hooker's sort can and should say about normative reasons for action. I claim that they provide theory reasons, but doing so requires distinguishing different roles rules in the ideal code. Some code specify while others perform functions. The also discusses choice Consequentialists face how exactly to reasons. It ends by comparing offered Consequentialism with Act Consequentialism, noting seems better able explain moral constraints.

Should Kantians Be Consequentialists?
Parfit argues that a form of rule consequentialism can be derived from the most plausible formulation of the fundamental principle of Kantian ethics. And so he concludes that Kantians should be consequentialists. I argue that we have good reason to reject two of the auxiliary premises that figure in Parfit’s derivation of rule consequentialism from Kantianism. In chapter 16 of On What Matters,...

متن کاملFuzzy rule-based inference of reasons for high effluent quality in municipal wastewater treatment plant
−A fuzzy inference system (FIS), which could classify the state of effluent quality if it was high or not and identify visually the reasons for the high effluent quality in municipal wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), was developed in this study. The decision tree algorithm and fuzzy technique were applied in the development of this system. By applying the classification and regression tree (...
